The Battle for Sydney Harbour 1998
The Battle for Sydney Harbour 1998. The story of how Sydney Harbour foreshore defence lands were saved from private development eventually to become the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust. These lands, including Headland Park, Middle Head, Chowder Bay, North Head, Cockatoo Island, Woolwich Dock and Platypus, are now protected by an Act of Parliament. Saving Mosman Bushland in August 1988
In August 1988 the Commonwealth announced a proposal to sell off, for development, the area of bush land and trees between what is now the walkway down to Balmoral from the extension of Middle Head Road, and the hospital at HMAS Penguin. There was a big protest at Balmoral, speakers included Tom Uren and Barry O'keefe, Mosman Parks and Bushland member and the then Mayor of Mosman.
