Nesting Box Project at Wyargine Reserve.
Having met us and got to know us a little over the Scenic Protection Area issue, the State Member for North Shore, Felicity Wilson, asked us if we would like a grant for our activities. We came up with an idea - a Nesting Box Project.
We received the grant and on advice from Lesley Stevens and Judy James of the Pittwater Pygmy Possum Project we ordered some delightful nesting boxes from Alf Britton on the Central Coast. We have boxes designed for various species: ringtail possums, Microbats, pygmy possum, feathertail gliders, and sugar gliders.
Some of the nesting boxes for Mosman Parks & Bushland’s Nesting Box Project were installed at Wyargine Reserve and we continue to monitor them. Other boxes are located at the Bradley Bushland Reserve and around Sirius Cove.
Mosman Council provided the approval and the Open Space and Biodiversity team assisted us in the placement of the boxes. Our microbat boxes are placed high in trees and required serious tree workers to put them up.
